Specialized Room spokeswoman Angela Grip has spoken about the conditions faced by the former Kosovo liberation arms in The Hague.
Greip said that the regulations and conditions in the detention center were put together in coordination with the Red Cross, ensuring the implementation of the highest international standards.
According to Greep, regarding the visitation regime, each prisoner can use 10 out of 30 days of each month for visits.
“As for the bans regarding Thaci, Veseli and Selim in December 2023 due to the transcripts submitted by the prosecution, which alleged that these three defendants disclosed confidential information to the visitor and visitor. Bans apply only to those who require non-privileged visits, that is, personal visits, but do not request private visits such as spouse or even lawyer. “
“Privileged visits are still being actively monitored. This means that non-privileged visits will be reduced to five for the 30-month period due to the facilitation of monitoring. This does not include private visits with a lawyer or video, and these visits can still be made with just one person,” Grip said in an interview with Klan Kosova.
She also spoke about the rules that prisoners are subject to in The Hague, saying they are the same as what is applied in the Netherlands.
“The prisoners are subject to the same rules that apply in the Netherlands, at least according to medical standards. There is a doctor in the internment camp who visits the prisoners regularly.
“You can request to be seen by a doctor or to undergo health care. They may also require special medical treatment and may require outside medical services. If they do not have sufficient financial resources to pay for this special treatment, they will need the registry and special rooms to pay for it. However, we do not provide information about whether this is due to privacy,” she said.
