Lovers around the world celebrate February 14th as Valentine’s Day, one day who is devoting themselves to love and romance.
But how was this vacation born and how did it become part of the Kosovar culture?
Valentine has deep historical roots associated with a Roman priest named Valentin and lived in the 3rd century.
According to legend, he resisted the order of Emperor Claudius II, who banned the marriages of the soldiers and secretly crowned many lovers.
For this reason, on February 14, he was imprisoned and executed and turned into a symbol of love and victim. Later the Catholic Church declared it a saint, and February 14th was determined as a day.
Over time, the vacation in a day that devoted itself to romantic love was transformed by a religious celebration.
In medieval Europe, couples, letters and gifts began to replace, while the vacation was massively commercialized in the USA and spread all over the world.
Valentine was widespread in Kosovo after 1999 when the influence of western culture became more sensitive.
In the beginning it was more popular with young people, but over the years companies have made companies and the media made it a great event.
Today this day is one of the most busy periods for premises, gifts and florists, while social networks are full of romantic congratulations and love statements.
