Kosovo and especially the city of Pristina are currently facing high levels of air pollution.
Air pollution is considered a risk to human health, especially for vulnerable groups with respiratory and respiratory diseases.
Short-term health effects of air pollution: illnesses, hospitalizations, health complications and deaths.
Long-term health effects: morbidity, lung cancer, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
The most common causes of death and illness associated with air pollution are: ischemic heart disease, stroke, respiratory disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchitis, emphysema, eye and respiratory irritation, especially asthma attacks and lung cancer.

People who are necessarily on site for their activities outside the home should wear protective masks and cover their mouth and nose with a scarf.
Smoking should be restricted outdoors where people move around and prohibited in closed spaces within the meaning of the law as well as in living, working, school and hospital rooms.
