Violeta Haxholli of Democracy in Action reports that political issues continued in the second week with increased intensity of activity in a mostly calm environment.

“Democracy in Action monitored 377 public meetings in all municipalities across the country, including those with a Serb majority. The Democratic League of Kosovo continues to lead with the largest number of activities, having organized 109 activities in these weeks, followed by the Democratic Party of Kosovo with 106 activities, then the Vetëvendosje Movement with 71 activities and the Alliance for the Future of the Kosovo with 54 activities”.

“Activities were also carried out by other parties such as the Pro-Family List and other non-majority community parties. “Political subjects have concentrated their gatherings in cities such as Prizren with 45 activities, Pristina with 27, Peja with 23 and Gjilan with 22 activities,” Haxholli said.

Haxholli added that with regard to freedom of assembly, political subjects could carry out their activities freely, but observers on the ground reported that in 14 cases, political subjects did not report their assemblies to local electoral commissions.

“Public institutions continue to be the most popular venues for political parties to hold rallies, with around 80 percent of the activities organized in these two weeks taking place in sports halls, cultural centers, schools and other locations.” In contrast, 20 percent of the activities took place in private spaces such as restaurants or other halls.”
